The Cat of Nine Names
If cats have nine lives, do they also have nine names?
Follow our feline stray as he roams the gardens of Wanderlost Street, making forever friends and earning nine identities along the way. Summer roaming is fun, but what will happen when winter comes?
This is no ordinary book.
It’s proof that children can achieve incredible things when given the freedom to follow their heart in playful explorations. Here’s a collaboration between 12-year old budding US illustrator Anaya Hamid & Katherine Mengardon, a London-based writer and educator four times older.
They never would have met but for a curious combination of unfortunate events: the Covid crisis, a rejection from JK Rowling and a sickly stray cat.
Anaya couldn’t imagine her drawings featuring in a real book, Katherine thought otherwise. By entrusting her experience to her youngling. she mentored Anaya as she embraced this challenging project to reveal talent beyond expectations and years.
Together they created a heart-warming ‘tail’ that celebrates community, diversity and kindness.
